Dear Parents,
I am facing a dilemma and I would appreciate your feedback. Currently, all the educational institutions in Chico (CSUC, CUSD, Butte College) have moved their spring break to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day in an attempt to avoid the events surrounding that holiday. This year their spring break is March 14-19.
We however, as a Christian school, have kept our Easter/spring break near Easter in acknowledgment of Jesus’ resurrection. We know that every day is a day to celebrate the Lord’s death and resurrection which brings us the possibility of new life!
The problem is that many families have students in our school and in public school, and cannot take their vacation as a family due to differing schedules. We recognize how important it is to spend that time together.
Please cast your vote for one of the options below to assist me in making this decision. Thank you!
I would prefer we match the public schools spring break. I understand that if we chose this option, we would also take Good Friday and the Monday after Easter off to allow families to celebrate Easter with family and friends, and make that week prior to Easter our Spiritual Emphasis Week.
I would prefer we keep Easter as the focus of our spring break and maintain the same schedule as we have in the past.
